Frank Porter Guide to Dubai Marina and JBR

So you’ve decided that on your next Dubai trip you’ll stay in Dubai Marina or JBR (good choice!). Now all you need to do is decide where to eat and how to make the most of your trip. Here are our top tips on what to do, where to eat and how to spend your time.

Dubai Marina

Things to Do:

  • Cycle around the Marina and take in the stunning views (whilst doing a bit of daily exercise!). Approximately 10KM long, the loop will take you round the waterfront, passing many coffee shops where you can stop off for a coffee on route. Bikes can easily be rented from one of the many bike stations where you can pay with card or via your phone – easy peasy!
  • Take on the epic X-Dubai zip line and fly across the marina either during the day or night. This is not for the faint heart – those who are scared of heights might want to sit this one out!
  • Stop till you drop at Dubai Marina Mall where you’ll find everything from high fashion to high street. The three storeyed mall is also home to many cafes and restaurants and is also linked to Pier 7, a 7-story building filled with licensed restaurants serving everything from Lebanese to Japanese.
  • Try out the new water park at Meriden Mina Seyahi and keep little ones entertained for hours whilst you relax by the pool.

Restaurants/Cafes:

  • Marina Social: for something a little special, try out Marina Social in the Intercontinental Dubai Marina. Serving European fare, the restaurant has a gorgeous terrace overlooking the marina and serves up a cracking Friday Brunch.
  • Bistro Des Artes: Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Bistro Des Artes serves French favourites in a cute and cosy setting by the water. Its low key and casual and the steak frites are to die for!
  • Bounty Beets: A breakfast favourite, Bounty Beets serves a gluten free menu all day, every day! They do a wonderful breakfast special during the week where you’ll get two dishes and a drink for 69 AED.

JBR

Things to Do:

  • Spend a day at JBR The Beach and explore the many restaurants and experiential pop ups that litter the shore. If you come with the family for the day, you can also rent a sunbed to make the experience a little more comfortable. The beach also offers an array of watersports, shops plus a small kids playground.
  • Have a chilled evening and watch a film at Roxy Cinema. With reclining chairs, comfy pillows, blankets and more, watch your film whilst dining out on a three course dinner.
  • Like to keep fit whilst you’re away? Then try out the outdoor Warehouse gym at JBR beach. With daily classes or access to the gym to train by yourself, get fit whilst you work on your tan!
  • When the weather is good there is no better place to be than the sea! Rent a boat from Luxury Charter Yachts and spend the day cruising the Dubai coastline.

Restaurants/Cafes:

  • Pots Pans & Boards: Created by UK chef Tom Aikens, Pots Pans and Boards serves scrumptious bits perfect for sharing! With beach front seating and some create snacks, its perfect for a pre- or post-beach feed.
  • Common Grounds Café: This newly opened restaurant has been launched by UAE powerhouse Bull and Roo, offering delicious dishes for breakfast and lunch that are catered to vegans, veggies and those with intolerances.
